Little Explorers Walkden

Our builders have been appointed and some initial work has started on site. We believe we are on track to open the nursery between September and November 2017. It is our most exciting project yet. A bespoke nursery set in the woods.

We have stuck to our Mission Statement and believe the experience for the children at the new Walkden Nursery will be second to none. The setting will bring all those childhood experiences of playing in the woods when you were a child to a safe purpose built nursery in the heart of Walkden.

The nursery is located on the A6 at the corner of Whittle Street and is perfect for the experience we want to create. By working closely with the local residents and ward Councilors we believe we have designed a low impact, environment friendly design that sits comfortably within the trees, disappearing into the woods with its wooden clad exterior and turf roof.

For information about the curriculum and nutrition, to read testimonials from our parents and to view copies of all our policies, please visit the about us section.

The nursery staff at are experienced ‘Little Explorers’ staff from our existing nurseries. All staff are skilled in expertly guiding your child through the wonders of learning whilst playing. Staff are also trained to support children with additional needs and English as an Additional Language.

We provide ongoing training for our staff to constantly update their own skills and abilities. Our staffs are passionate and committed to creating an atmosphere of care and respect which radiates throughout this happy nursery and is led by our dedicated and enthusiastic management team.

Our facilities at Little Explorers Nursery Walkden include:

The Nursery in the Woods

Daily Routine 0-2 years

Each child has a key worker who is assigned to support their development and build relationships between nursery and home. Your child’s daily information and interests will be recorded in a diary that is taken home every night, parents/carers are encouraged to write in information that can be used at nursery. All children have a learning journey that contains observations, which are used to help track your child’s development, these can be viewed and discussed at any time.

Daily and weekly planning is carried out from observations and your child’s next steps; this enables us to plan focused activities. We celebrate all festivals from different cultures, which include food tasting, and role-play; this gives the children a wide range of understanding of the world.

Toddlers are encouraged to discover their surroundings and to take part in experiences such as games, music & movement, baking and storytelling.

Our aim is to encourage children to feel confident and valued, a child will never be pushed to begin the fundamentals of a more formal education, however, staff will take every opportunity to encourage and guide them when they feel that they are ready.
